FAQs
Should I buy an instrument for my child?
We recommend renting, not buying, an instrument for several reasons. Most likely, your child will be on a fractional size instrument, and will need a larger size in a year or so. If you buy a full size instrument when they are too small, they will not be able to hold it properly or produce a full sound. Finally, the quality of many instruments found online are not ideal, and would need hundreds of dollars worth of work before they are playable. For these reasons, we recommend renting an instrument until they are fully grown and have committed to their instrument.

Where can I rent an instrument for my child?
We work closely with Russo Music. Once you have your child's size information, click the "Rentals" tab, select "West Windsor-Plainsboro" as the district, and complete the required steps to rent the instrument. The instrument will be delivered to the school.

There are several other companies in the area that also rent instruments. However, these companies do not deliver instruments to the school. Please contact us for details if you are interested.

How much classroom time will my child be missing for lessons?
Your child will miss one 40-minute class per week for a group lesson. We rotate our schedule so that they will not miss the same class twice in a row, and in ideal situations, they will not miss the same class in 1 or 2 months. Students who are in BSI math or reading will never miss their BSI class.

How much practice is required per day?

We require students to practice 120 minutes per week. We recommend that they practice 20 minutes per day, 6 days per week. Students will log their practice on a practice chart, which must be signed by a parent, and will bring it in at their group lesson each week.

My child lost their practice chart! How can they log their practice?
That's ok, it happens quite often! They can always pick up an extra one from our room, print one at home (found on our homepage) or even make their own at home. No matter what option they choose, it MUST be signed by the parent at the time of their lesson.
