Welcome Letter

Dear Parent(s) and student,

Welcome to fourth grade at Millstone River School. I would like to take this time to introduce myself to you and give you an idea of what this school year will look like in room A140! My name is Ms. Ross and I am so excited for the upcoming school year. This year I will be teaching your child language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and health. Your child will also have other specials that they will attend regularly such as art, computers, music, PE, and world language.

During the first few days of school we will begin to get to know one another through fun, engaging, and hands on activities. The most important aspect of a classroom is the classroom community and in A140 we will become a family. We will have a safe, comfortable, and positive atmosphere where everyone who enters will feel welcomed. This year we will embark together on discovering and exploring new topics of studies in different subject areas. I have some SUPER things planned for you. As readers we will uncover new texts in different genres such as fiction, nonfiction, historical fiction, poetry, and so much more. We will also be learning many reading strategies and participating in collaborative book clubs. We will blossom as writers learning new strategies and styles of writing. We will write essays, poetry, fiction, historical fiction, and participate in research projects. In mathematics we will be learning how to become awesome problem solvers while learning measurement and geometry. In science get excited for hands on experiments that will go hand in hand with electricity and land and water. We will learn all about the history of Early America such as the formation of the Government, the tensions that led to the American Revolution, and the American Revolution in Social Studies. Lastly, in Health we will talk about the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle and other important issues.

I hope you have had a healthy, safe, and enjoyable summer and relish the rest of summer break with friends and family. I look forward to meeting your child on September 6th and I look forward to meeting you on September 28th at 7 pm for Back to School night. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me at any time. My main form of communication is through my email which is alexa.ross@ww-p.org

Sincerely,

Ms. Ross
