Welcome Back Letter

Welcome to Mr. Smith’s Classroom:

Room A111 : Summer 2018

welcome

Dear Third Graders,

Welcome to Third Grade and to my class!!! Let me introduce myself. My name is Mr. Smith, and I will be your teacher for what is sure to be a fun-filled and exciting year. I hope you are all as excited as I am about 3rd grade at Millstone River and starting the year ahead of us.

As a third grader, you will have many new and exciting responsibilities. Make sure that you will be ready to meet these new adventures each day by getting a good night’s rest, eating breakfast each morning, and bringing a big enough, healthy snack to school each day! Our lunch is 4th period this year, meaning that each day we will start off with reading and math, and run straight through the morning until lunch. That means a good breakfast in the morning and a big enough healthy snack in the afternoon will be needed to get us through our day!

To be ready for the new school year, you will need to let your parents know about some supplies and materials you will need to bring with you on the first day.  Please check out the 3rd grade supply list page to see what every 3rd grader is required to bring to school.  Then you will need to check back in to my page for any additional or optional items we will need to start off our school year together.

In addition to these supplies, I would like you each to pick out a special notebook, which we will use as a journal. Please make sure that it is an average-sized notebook, and that you take your time when choosing it because you will be using this notebook all year long. You will find out more about this notebook once the school year starts! Just make sure it is sturdy enough to last the whole year!

Additionally, I will gladly take any additional boxes of tissues, boxes of ziplock baggies, and pump-bottles of hand sanitizer and/or hand soap that your parents would like to donate to our classroom community. Make sure you have your personal supplies with you on the first day of school!

Finally, I would like you to bring in one more special item with you on the first day of school - a special photograph of yourself that shows us about your summer! It can be a picture of a special vacation that you went on, a picture of you and your family, a picture of you and your friends, or a picture of anything else that that will let us know more about you and your summer! The one thing that has to be in the picture is…YOU!!! We will be using these photographs to help decorate our classroom, so make sure you ask your parents if you can use them first.

I am really excited about the start of our school year together, and I can’t wait to get to know you better. We are going to have a great year together in Third Grade. Enjoy the rest of your summer, and I will see you in September!

                                       Sincerely,
