Welcome Letter

Dear Third Grader,                                                            Summer 2018

Welcome to Third Grade! I am Mr. Greene and I will be your third grade teacher. I hope you are enjoying your summer break and are excited to start third grade at Millstone River. I am so excited to have you in my class and I’m anxious to meet you! This will be my seventh year teaching third grade. In a couple short weeks, we will finally have the chance to meet and start this great adventure together, in the third grade. Third grade will be a blast, filled with many new adventures, learning experiences, and activities. This year, you’ll have the opportunity to be independent and show how hard you can work. It’s a time to build new friendships, mature, and most importantly have fun! I’m so excited to meet you and I can’t wait for this new year to begin! We’re going to have a great third grade year together!

The first day of school will be on Wednesday, September 5th. Don’t be nervous because I know it’s going to be an awesome first day for you! Everyone gets nervous on the first day of school, even me :) For your first day of school, make sure you get a good night’s rest, eat a big breakfast, and remember to bring a healthy snack to school!

Also our classroom already has a variety of supplies for you to use throughout the year, but there are still a few supplies I would like you to bring to school on your first day. PLEASE keep an eye out for Back-to-School sales!

  1. A box of crayola colored markers
  2. 4 pads of Post-its (of “3x3”)
  3. A 1 inch 3 ring binder
  4. One sturdy 2 pocket folder
  5. One box of No.2 pencils
  6. One large box of tissues
  7. 3 larger glue sticks
  8. 2 marble notebooks
  9. two black permanent markers
  10. 1 single subject notebook
  11. 3 expo dry erase markers
  12. One old sock or eraser (to use for the dry erase boards)

*Please notify me if your child has any food allergies, gets picked up regularly, or goes to EDP.

Lastly, I would like you to bring in one item that you would like to share with your classmates. Being that it might be the first time meeting your classmates, please pick something that would teach us something about you! We will be sharing our secret items during the firs two weeks of school, so don’t tell any of your friends what your secret item is. Examples of some great items to bring in would be: a favorite book, a stuffed animal, a photograph, something you have made, a special collection, or something special you got from a place you visited or went to during your summer vacation (postcard or souvenir). Please do not bring in any breakable items, live pets, or live pets!

Have fun and enjoy the rest of your summer vacation. I can’t wait to meet you!

Your Third Grade Teacher,

-Mr. Greene ;)
