Dear Families,     The students have been working very hard these past few weeks to improve their reading and writing skills.  Even though we have only been in school for about 2 months, we have been very busy in the classroom covering many concepts.  In reading, we have talked about character traits, dialogue tags, reading assigned and unassigned dialogue, what to do when there is an unfamiliar word or idea in the text, and have practiced reading aloud.  Every Monday, the students recite poems that they have memorized.  They are doing a great job and it has been very enjoyable to see their self- confidence increase while being in front of the class.  In writing, the students have used a variety of gathering strategies to help them choose a topic to write about, created and published a personal narrative about a special place, learned how to form a complete sentence, and have practiced using editing symbols while proofreading.   The students have also been taught how to choose a “just right” book that is appropriate for their reading comprehension level.     As you can see, we have been very busy in room B-132!  We have created a welcoming learning environment where students can feel confident and successful.    The students are demonstrating excellence in the classroom and we hope that they are doing the same at home while completing homework assignments.  To help you create a positive learning environment at home for your child, we have attached a list of ideas so that excellence is achieved at home as well.  Please read through the list and contact us with any questions or suggestions you may have.  We look forward to working with you to reach each student’s individual learning goals.     We hope to see everyone at our “Fall into Writing Festival!”  We are very excited to share with you what the students have been reading and writing.                         Hope to see you soon!                     Mrs. Bossio and Miss Gallagher

Dear Parent(s) and Students,  Wooohooo! Welcome to fourth grade! I am unbelievably thrilled to be one of your child’s teachers this year! Myself and Ms. Forkel have worked throughout the Summer to develop both an engaging and educational plan that will help the growth of each individual student. I am filled with tremendous energy, new ideas and unmatched passion for what I do. I cannot wait for the year ahead!!!  Quickly on my background, I graduated from Rider University with a dual certification in both elementary and special education. I also had a second major in communication studies.  In addition to my love for education, I also enjoy volleyball both as a former captain and current coach for CORE Volleyball Club. The lessons I’ve learned from the sport has shaped my drive to help others. I have also been a teacher at The Little Gym for the past 6 years where I teach gymnastics to students ages 1-12.  When I am not in the classroom or on the court, you may also find me at the Jersey Shore, or spending valuable time with my family.   I greatly look forward to meeting you and to a fantastic year to come :) Smile, Ms. Cichowski

Dear Families,  Hello! Welcome to Fourth Grade! My name is Miss Forkel, and I will be one of your children’s teachers this year. :) Ms. Cichowski and I are looking forward to building relationships with your children, and watching them learn and grow during their time with us in the classroom. I have had a love of learning since I was in elementary school, and followed my dream of becoming a teacher by attending and graduating from Rider University. I am dual-certified in both general and special education, with a third certification in psychology. I love to read, spend time with my family and friends, and to explore new places!  We will be working together with your children to help them develop and achieve social-emotional goals, build their global awareness, and to support their diverse and ever changing learning needs. Our goal as their teachers will be to challenge them, and to help them reach their full potential as learners!  I know I speak for Ms.Cichowski as well when I say that I am incredibly excited to meet, teach, and connect with your children this fall.  We look forward to having a fantastic and productive year! Miss Mehgan Forkel
